Adding Attic Insulation: Over Existing or Start Fresh?

Considering adding more insulation to my attic for improved energy efficiency. Is it advisable to install new insulation over existing layers, or should I remove the old insulation first for optimal results?

You can add new insulation over existing if it’s in good shape, just make sure it’s not wet or moldy. If the old insulation is damaged, removing it and starting fresh is a better option to ensure proper coverage and efficiency!

Hey everyone! I think adding insulation over existing material can be a great option if it's still in good shape! It saves time and effort, though you should check for moisture issues first! 🏠✨

Great question! If the existing insulation is in good shape (no mold or damage), you can usually add on top of it. But if it’s old or inefficient, it might be worth starting fresh for better results!
